Martin Whyte was referred to Workforce Training Services Path 2 Employment programme by his local Jobs & Benefits Office to get support with finding employment and completing his CSR card. Martin had worked in construction for over 30 years but more recently, he had been working as a Caretaker in a local school on an ad-hoc basis.
The Path 2 Employment team were able to identify a number of opportunities available to Martin and help him design a career pathway that would enable him to find employment. Martin was very open to receiving support and upskilling himself and as such, he signed up to Belfast City Councils Construction Employment Academy, which Workforce delivers.
With the support of both Path 2 Employment and the Construction Employment Academy Martin completed CSR training, Food Hygiene Training and a number of sessions around job searching, completing application forms and interview preparation.
Martin was so impressive throughout his time on the programme that Workforce Training Services offered him full time employment as a Caretaker. Martin started employment with Workforce in February 2019, and will be working across all four of Workforce’s sites throughout Belfast.
