Become a Motor Vehicle Technician
What’s it all about?
By training as a Motor Vehicle Technician, you will gain an in-depth knowledge and understanding of vehicle systems and the automotive industry. Your training will take place in our fully equipped garage, which will allow you to practise and enhance your skills within a real life working environment. By working in partnership with prestigious dealerships, Workforce ensures your learning is relevant and reflects the required high industry standards.

What skills will I develop?
  • An ability to comprehend technical information and problem solve;
  • IT skills to use a variety of specialised equipment, including plug-in diagnostic computers; and
  • Capable of working with numerical data to deal with measurements, estimating the cost of repairs and mathematical calculations.
Where will it take me?
Career opportunities as a mechanic/technician are vast, with employment opportunities available at garages, vehicle hire and breakdown organisations, manufactures, service centres and car dealerships. With experience, career progression can include master technician, workshop supervisor and workshop manager. This career path also provides you with the option of becoming self-employed; as your own boss you will have greater flexibility, a choice on job selection and increased salary.



Become a Vehicle Parts Specialist
What’s it all about?
As a vehicle parts specialist you will sell motor parts and accessories to garages, car dealerships and the general public. Your qualification will provide you with the experience in the use of vehicle parts operating systems, and particular focus will be given to customer facing and parts identification units to ensure you can meet and exceed customer expectations.

As a Vehicle Parts Specialist:
  • Organisational skills to prioritise your workload;
  • An ability to interpret and understand technical information; and
  • To work well as part of a team of industry experts including mechanics/technicians, customer service staff, management teams and sales departments.
Where will it take me?
Achievement of your qualification in vehicle parts can lead to employment in a range of settings, from service centres were your main clients would be car dealerships, to independent garages dealing directly with the public. With experience career progression can include supervisor or service advisor roles and an opportunity to progress into the service and repair section of the motor industry.
Become a Customer Service Advisor
What’s it all about?
As a Customer Service Advisor you will be placed within a prestigious dealership. You will assist customers with their queries both face to face and via the telephone. Through both training within Workforce and placement you will gain the experience and skills to provide a high standard of service to meet the expectations of both the customer and the employer.

As a Customer Service Advisor:
  • Organisation and communication skills;
  • An ability to work individually and part of a team, dealing with the public in a professional manner; and
  • To work well as part of a team of industry experts including mechanics/technicians, parts specialists, management teams and sales departments.
Where will it take me?
Customer Service Advisors play a pivotal role within the car dealership, progressing to a variety of roles within the customer service department and often into management. On completion of your qualifications, you will have vastly developed your ability to not only work as part of a team but will also improve your leadership skills having completed a number of projects in partnership with other motor vehicle departments.
Dealership Programme
In partnership with the dealership network throughout Northern Ireland, Workforce can offer those aged 16/17 a unique work placement and training experience. The programme provides employment and progress opportunities for Mechanics/Technicians, Vehicle Parts Specialists and Customer Service Advisors.

With such high demand for the Dealership Programme an entry criteria is applied.
